"Bräuerey zum Spezial"
The Brewery Spezial was mentioned first in a document of 1536 and it family-owned by the Merz family.

The well-known smoke beer from Bamberg has been brewed for more than 475 years at the former Steinweg, an old formerly important route of commerce. The needed smoke malt is produced right in our own malthouse based on a centennial-old procedure. The malt is dried over open beech fire which produces the typical flavor.

In this was a mild, fine smoke taste is achieved – typical for smoke beers of the Brewery Special "Bräuerey zum Spezial".

The name "Special", derived probably from the word "Spezeln" (friends) which gathered at this location.
