In the middle of Upper Franconia, the Grosch brewery inn is also part of the region of enjoyment, which is certainly not at home here without reason. One impressive example among many is the potato. Every child knows today that it has its origins in South America. But the first in Germany to recognize its incomparable potential for enjoyment were, to be precise, the Upper Franconians. Just imagine the gap in the menus today if the people of Pilgramsreuth had not started to cultivate the healthy and tasty tuber for consumption according to plan in 1647.
When the potato harvest begins in August, this is exactly the right time to raise the potatoes, as they are called in our country, from a side dish to a main course. In many delicious variations of course, whether cut, sliced, sliced, pureed, fried, boiled or immediately in a sophisticated preparation process with our homemade dumplings raised to the nobility of the Franconian cuisine. In this role, the delicious local potatoes also come to the table as an expression of another purity law: Because in our dumplings there are potatoes, salt and water, nothing else.
